It's been 5 weeks since I said goodbye to them in Dallas. I could have never imagined how difficult and strange it would be to be a part. Now looking back I can point out and recognize where God was pouring out His grace. He truly is faithful to supply you with whatever you need for that season, ie. Skype, Video calls, Comfort, or Peace. While flying home tonight I am struck with a overall amazement and grateful heart for our troops who spend months on duty away from their families. I hope I never take for granted the sacrifice the American military families are making to keep my country safe and free. Thank you to all who serve. Also I am reminded of the parable in Matthew 13, where it says "the kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has to buy that field." (Matthew 13:44 ESV) Any sacrifices Katrina, Wyatt, and I have made are worth the Kingdom. This past month God has been reminding me of the moment he called us into missions. The reason we responded, and gave our lives to missions. It was to receive the treasure of the kingdom of Heaven. Now as a family of three, not just a young couple with wild young ideas, we count the cost and remain committed to the calling of full time missions on our life. We accept the challenges and sacrifices as ways we continually lay ourselves down to see the kingdom of Heaven, the Gospel of Jesus Christ spread through generations and to the ends of the earth.
My time in Spain leading the Urban DTS outreach has done more then just born lasting fruit in the cities we ministered. It reignited that fire for missions in my heart. It asked me again to lay down all we have for the sake of making the name and love of Christ known. 2011 is a new season for us, one of pioneering, learning, and preparing for the new growth as a family in missions.
Thank you to all of you who sacrifice your time, prayers, and hard earned finances to partner with us in mobilizing and equipping a urban generation into the great commission.
Blessings,
Rodger
